TCM sees the person as an integral mind/body organism, and therefore does not treat symptoms and diseases alone.
TCM ventures to stimulate our bodies’ natural healing potential by treating root causes rather than symptoms.
TCM treatments are customised for each patient according to his or her unique body constitution and problems.
TCM emphasises on prevention, and always addresses any imbalances so as to achieve a state of balance, optimal function and regulation.
Benefits
Traditional Chinese medicine has been reported to offer many benefits for individuals who use it. It is reputed to have the ability to improve a person's general health, is usually less costly than traditional medicine, and is not dependent on pharmaceutical products that very often cause side effects and sometimes require the use of additional pharmaceuticals simply to combat such side effects.
Personalized Treatment
As traditional Chinese medicine is based on differentiation of symptoms, not everyone will be treated the same way for the same problems. Thus, each person's treatment is personalized. As opposed to traditional western approaches to diagnosing and treating illness, TCM places more emphasis on the pattern of the symptoms involved. In treating the body, TCM practitioners focus on harmonizing the entire body because the body, mind, and spirit are united. It goes without saying, of course, that TCM should only be received by a skilled and qualified practitioner.

DeleteDepending on what type of Chinese herbs you are taking, the cost greatly varies. For example, premium ginseng can cost tens of thousands. So TCM may not really be cheaper.
ReplyDeleteUsually, it should be cheaper. Unless you're talking ginseng, birds nest, pearl powder, etc. But the bottom tier does differ greatly from the top.
DeleteTrue, some are really expensive while some can be very cheap, since the range of TCM is also really great
DeleteIf skill and qualifications are repeatedly emphasized, why doesn't the Singapore government accept the TCM practitioners' advice? Why won't they accept their MCs? It's like, why bother insisting on proper qualifications if you guys aren't going to formally recognize them?
ReplyDeleteI believe it goes back again to the point that TCM is not proven scientifically.
DeleteIt could maybe be also because TCM is just for minor illnesses. If you feel dizzy you can just apply some TCM medicated oil. Then, if you ask the TCM for an MC and excuse from physical activities, there you have an MC (those TCM practitioners should not reject you right?). This is totally different from Western medicine. Basically TCM can be used for minor illnesses while for Western medicine, it might not be appropriate to take medication for minor cases such as dizziness (it might even make you feel worse).
